Trisura Guarantee CFO announces retirement
John Garner will be retiring as chief financial officer (CFO) of Trisura Guarantee on June 30.
An insurance industry veteran with 40 years of experience, Garner co-founded Trisura in 2005 and played a key role in the company’s success.
“His passion for the insurance industry, tireless work ethic, keen and insightful business mind, close relationships with a deep understanding of our brokers, great sense of humour and absolute integrity have helped shape Trisura’s unique culture,” Mike George, president and CEO of Trisura Guarantee Insurance Company, wrote in a statement.
Garner began working as a consultant to insurance brokerages across Canada with Clarkson Gordon in 1978 before moving on to a senior role with Trivest. He was later named CFO of Wellington Guarantee, and then London Guarantee, where he remained until the company was sold in 2002. He then joined Cookson Walker, prior to co-founding Trisura Guarantee in 2005.
David Scotland will succeed Garner as CFO of Trisura Guarantee. Scotland has served as the company’s controller and vice-president of finance for the past eight years, and was mentored by Garner.
“Although David has big shoes to fill, he is very capable and knowledgeable and is backed by an extraordinary team and we are confident he will flourish in his new role,” George wrote.
